Well, as most of you are aware, the blog had died. For those of you who are curious for a bit more information what had actually happened is that my home server (where this blog is hosted) had one of its hard drives fail. We lucked out and found a spot in Yosemite to camp the night of the 3rd! But when we opted to move camping spots for the second night, we realized the full extent of what Independence Day in Yosemite National Park meant… There were just SO👏many👏people👏. There was nowhere to park, let alone camp, so we spent the last night in an adorable little campground just outside the park entrance called Summerdale. Well we made it out of town. On the day we expected to as well. Sure, we had to replace an alternator and water pump before we left but we did it. These first few days have felt a little surreal. It was tough to say goodbye to everyone and the last few days before we left have all started blending together because they went so quickly. Death Valley is hot. We’re hitting the road in 34 more days. There is still a lot to be done and just barely enough time to do it! The electrical system had a failure this last weekend. The inverter decided that even though it had tested okay when I first got the unit, it was now time to stop working. Without explanation it has given up the ghost and needs to be returned/replaced before we go. Alas, … earwax.
